HELP?!?!!

Have you ever been involved in something, a part of something, or leader of something, and expected the support of your family and friends; only to be disappointed by their lack of excitement, lack of acknowledgement, or lack of overall support?

If you answered yes to this question, this blog is for you!

There is also a flip side…the side where people support you out of motive; motive of where it could possibly elevate them, motive of being seen as the go-to person, motive motive motive; not simply b/c they want to see you succeed in that thing, regardless of if they are part of it or not.

Romans 8:28 (NIV) says: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

By nature, I genuinely get a kick out of seeing people live out their best lives, accomplishing things they set out to achieve, and just having joy in their lives in general.

When someone I know gets a new car, I express my happiness to them. Shoot, I may even ask for a test spin!!

When someone I know starts a business, gets elevated in ministry or the like, I rejoice for them.

So because of how I naturally am, in the past it was very difficult for me to deal with friend’s and family’s lack of response to progression in my life, especially in regards to progression within the realm of faith and witness within the body of Christ. Although the things I was doing were to glorify God and God alone, as Claire said in her Monday blog, “We want to be accepted. We want to be loved.” I’d say it is an innate part of the human experience.
Let me just clarify real quick that I am not speaking of the prayer-type of support. I realized that some people were interceding on my behalf and I always appreciated that b/c God says we must pray for one another. But I am specifically speaking of tangible support. As the owner of a Christian business, I often find that people will try to find a reason not to support you, than to do so. For example, instead of saying, “You don’t have my size in that shirt, so holla at me if you get plus sizes.” Why not, “Praise God for what you’re doing. I can’t fit the shirts but I have a friend that would love this. I want to buy it for her.” Boy oh boy, how that and other overt things would get under my skin. But not anymore.

The bottom line is that you have to be okay with the fact that everyone is not going to get it. It is not their vision…it is yours. Your only concern and responsibility should be to ensure that your vision properly aligns with
God’s will. Actually, if the vision came from Him in the first place, your only job is to be obedient to it and move as He instructs.

For you to be hurt or upset b/c of a lack of enthusiasm from people, is a slap in the face of God b/c you are essentially saying to Him, “You being pleased is not enough for me.” I had to learn to stop giving God’s power away. Even if a person is envious or hateful deep down inside and on the real…wishing for me to fail, no person can stunt my growth in Christ…EVER! Mark 10:9 (KJV), “What therefore what God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Ya dig? God is in control.

We are all flawed in various ways. Unfortunately, some people have the tendency to come off a tad more hateful and envious than the average. But some people want to help and just don’t know how to approach you. For every con, there is a pro. The bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Knowing this fact, how could you ever allow the non-supportive actions of your sister, your uncle, or your friend of 10-years, get you down? Also, you have to remember that everyone in your circle is not even a REAL Christian anyway. So why would they go out of their way to support your Christian endeavors?

I have learned to turn negative energy and indifference into positive fuel to keep my proverbial engine going and going and going. Perhaps making up for wasted time while being unsaved. I am just majorly motivated for Christ right now. He is calling me higher; giving me ideas and visions. He is telling me to run in some areas and be still in others.

I just want to do what He says and I also want to encourage others who are doing the same. Trust God that He will send you the support you need. Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV) says, “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” The extra stuff is just fluff. It is nice to have a rooting section, fans, and cheerleaders for your team, but if you don’t have that, your ministry is no less important to God if it is truly being done to glorify Him.

So my closing is two-fold.
1) People of the world celebrate each others success. Diddy’s friends threw him a huge party when he acquired ownership of Vodka brand Ciroc. As believers, let’s do better in encouraging one another with a sincere heart. Let’s learn to celebrate one another as GOD elevates us.
2) Believers, be BOLD and FABULOUS at all times. Be grateful for and show gratitude to those who have supported you and are continually in your corner. But continue on the path God has for you and treat people how you desire to be treated regardless of reciprocation or excitement from people you love and care for.

Blessings all.

  5. Shauna Ellis says:

You could not have said it any better! The Lord is using you to inspire. We give our “haters” or shall I say non Christians so much credit and I have even heard people say they are motivated by the “haters”, but we must ONLY be inspired by JESUS CHRIST! PRAISE GOD! I luv it! thanks luv u sis and keep up the good work.

  6. Ify says:

while man seeks praise and glory for self, it is a great reminder that “self” was created to give glory to GOD and only GOD! How can ask for what is not ours? All praises go to God…even when people applaud, we have to give thanks to our Creator for enabling us to be used. Nothing we do is of our own strength or power! THANK YOU for this sis. It can feel “lonely” when people don’t see (or worse, put you down for what you do see). But every vision is not for all to see…and with every VISION God will provide PRO-VISION!!! Every thing He touches turns to gold…so of course what we do would be fabulous! Not by our might, but by His! WOOOOO!!! (can you tell I LUV this WORD)…ok, i’m done! LOL

  7. Reg says:

Well said! Acceptance is always appreciated but not the ultimate purpose. As long as you’re moving in accordance with God’s plan for your life He will provide. You said it even better when you said “Trust God that He will send you the support you need.”

I had a slow moment and thought I had to sign up for an account in order to leave a post. Once I created a log in, it gives you and option to upload a picture.

  9. iNDIGO says:

@Shauna: I agree w/ u 100%. I even saw a shirt recently at a Womens Retreat that read, “I Love My Haters Because My Haters Make Me Greater”. I was like, “Huh?” God makes us greater dude. Period…Point blank!! Anyhow, glad it was a blessing.
@Ify: Yes indeedy! PROVISION. Praise Him.
@Reg: Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. God is SOOOOO good, ian’t He?!?!!

  10. Tricie says:

    Indigo,
Let me just start off by saying that I identify with this post almost identical. I too, am a Christianprenuer and I have learned that people will always have something to say whether it is for the purpose of addition or subtraction. I am so glad that I look to the hills for my help….I always tell people that Favored Events is a company inspired by God to innovate and transform not just events but the lives of those we come in contact with…..Amen my sister Be encouraged

  11. iNDIGO says:

  12. boldandfab says:

Sis….THANK YOU!!!! I TRULY needed to hear that;-) I feel that I REALLY already KNOW that my STRENGTH comes from the LORD..That’s MEANS ALL my STRENGTH!! But SOMETIMES my HUMAN FLESH sneaks up on me(Well it ACTUALLY DWELLS in me…FLESH) But, the FLESH gets me to thinking certain things & SOME of them COULD VERY WELL BE TRUE but I NEED to be REMINDED that MY STRENGTH/ENCOURAGEMENT comes from the Lord!!! SOOOOOO THANK YOU AGAIN for the REMINDER in SUCH a BOLD & FAB WAY;-) Smooches

  13. Aunt Carol says:

Well, I guess I’m “tweeting”. I am so happy you guys found each other in God; I pray, also, that we do not use God to chastise others.

    God bless,
    Auntie

  14. Tristan Lewis says:

Now I see what happens when I don’t come on here for a few days. I miss out big time. that won’t happen again. Praising God. I agree wholeheartedly and am touched.

  15. iNDIGO says:

Well your prayers are answered Aunt C, b/c that’s definitely not what we do here at BoldandFab.blog.com. We trust that God does the convicting and chastising…not our place. His will be done. Amen. Thanx for stopping by.

    Indi, Indi, Indi,

How in the world did I miss this post in August. Thanx for the re-post Sis! Just to piggy back, I believe the reason some “real Christians” don’t support our endeavors is because they considered themselves “favored” and can’t understand why God is favoring you. When the real issue is that they allowed their calling to fall by the wayside. Thanks again. It truly blessed me!

  20. boldandfab says:

Reblogged this on The BOLD & The FABULOUS and commented:
