Joshua 1:9 — “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Philippians 4:6 — “Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
1 Corinthians 3:7-8 — “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.”
Proverbs 27:17 — “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
1 Thessalonians 5:11 — “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Hebrews 10:24 — “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
Luke 14:28-30 — “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.”
With all of the confirmation and affirmation the Word provided me, I moved forward with choosing The Contenders!
Facebook was a big part of my decision making process b/c remember, as I stated in “Pt. 1”, I was not able to simply choose from my closest friends, but instead, where God was leading. So for a couple months, I followed the daily posts of about 10 different women who I knew through someone or some other type of way. After much watching, waiting, praying, and reading, it was decision making time.
Monisha Carter was chosen first. She is the only one I already called “friend”; knowing her for about a year prior to. Bianca Ashton was chosen second. I met her after she reached out to me to ask if my company Jesus Groupie Inc. would be featured in her documentary, To God Be The Glamour. Ify Ife was chosen third. She attended and graduated from CUNY Law School w/ my first cousin. April Curley was chosen 4th. We met once at a Christian event in Baltimore (Yes only once!). And last but not least, Claire Brown was chosen to complete the circle. I was seeking a young voice (under 20). She is also Monisha’s sister.
I then hit them up individually to tell them about the vision and ask them to be a part. They all prayed about it and eventually said YES! Assigning days was a breeze. There was no drama…no egos, just willingness. I chose Wednesday, Ify chose Thursday, Bianca chose Tuesday. Claire chose Monday. Monisha chose Friday, and all that was left was Saturday (Sunday is a rest day, unless there’s a guest blogger). April gladly took it. And here we are almost a year later, still blogging daily… still being obedient to the call, with our very first party/celebration/event on the horizon.
God has a plan for all of us. How we allow Him to use us as the plan is being configured is a large part of how He choses to bless us. The Bold & Fabulous has a bright future ahead, with more events, workshops, conferences, and of course MORE BLOGGING!! God is having his way through us and I pray that you readers will be blessed by this story of how we came about to see that God is truly able to do ANYTHING for His glory! We ask that you continue to read the blog, comment, and tell others you know about us so that they may also be blessed by what God puts on our hearts.
We love you all and thank you for your continued support.
