The concept of forgiveness is sometimes challenging to believers. We struggle with our human nature to give forgiveness, but it is one of the most essential and important facets of the Christian life. These are some nice quotes I found (with some very visual pictures) that can help you remember that as children of the King, why we forgive, even when it’s hard.
1) Forgiveness is Hard to Give
2) But Forgiveness Makes Us Grow
“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” -Matthew 6:14
“Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness forces you to grow beyond what you were.” –Cherie Carter Scott
3) Forgiveness is Essential
“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” -Colossians 3:13
4) Forgiveness Rolls Away Our Burdens
Have you heard the phrase “Forgive and Forget”?? Well, although it’s not found in the Bible, these two verses together are an excellent combination of the same phrase. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you,” and Hebrews 8:12 says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.”
“Forgiveness does not mean we are obliviously to the fact that what happened to us was wrong. Instead, we acknowledge, yet give it over to the Lord and let Him to carry the burden for us.” –(Paraphrase of Charles Stanley)
5) Forgiveness Emits a Fragrance
Mark Twain said, “Forgiveness is the fragrance the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.” and Isaiah says, “How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news!…” How much better is the news that we can be forgiven?? Forgiven by the Almighty Father for every sin and evil thought or deed we’ve ever done??
How beautiful to know that we can pass on such forgiveness to others.. =)
To the KING!!
