Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”
One of the MOST encouraging scriptures to me. Let me take you on a journey with a family that was TRULY TESTED…..BUT GOD!!
As some of you may know I have my Realtor license and REALLY utilized it between the years of 2002-2006 (Still hold the license for a RAINY DAY). Between those years we purchased a couple of homes with the intent to fix and flip; however, with the housing fall we had in ’06 myself and my family got STUCK (upside-down on our home) in our last purchase. Long story short we were paying a $350,000 mortgage that was only worth (the home) $215,000…..SOME OF YA’LL FOLLOWING ME!!
My husband and I jumped through hoops to get our mortgage changed even trying to rent our property out. NO HOPE. One day months after all had failed we received a phone call from a Realtor friend of mine saying she came up with the “PERFECT PLAN” we could do a “SHORT SALE”. Now being a Realtor myself, I heard of this BUT it wasn’t very POPULAR back in ’08, so we looked more into this option (even consulting a very good friend of mine whom had JUST gone through a short sale).
After MUCH review we realized that you MUST have a “Hardship” to be qualified for such a thing and NOTHING HAD CHANGED WITH OUR INCOMES AS A MATTER OF FACT OVER THE 3-YRS OF OWNING, OUR INCOMES INCREASED BUUUUUT WE STILL SHOULDN’T HAVE TO PAY A HIGH MORTGAGE ON A HOME THAT JUST WASN’T WORTH IT…..RIGHT??
Well, long story even shorter God had JUST blessed the Carter family with a UNEXPECTED SET OF BEAUTIFUL TWINS…My Realtor friend said THAT COULD BE YOUR “HARDSHIP”. Everyone EXPECTS one baby BUT TWINS? That’s another mortgage (SO TRUE). We immediately phoned our mortgage company and after MUCH proof they ACTUALLY approved the short sale. Now my husband was VERY MUCH against this plan because of all the money that had been put into our home (renovations). I tried to plea with him…Would he rather continue paying a HIGH mortgage for the next 25yrs or take the loss wait 2-yrs (After a short sale the seller must wait 2yrs to purchase another home) then purchase a NEWER home with a LOWER mortgage? After MUCH talk my husband was on board and the 17-month process began (Settled on our home feb 2010).
We rented a beautiful home for a little over 2-yrs (Seemed like FOREVER, 28-months) before beginning the search for our current home that God TRULY blessed us with. I said ALL THAT TO TAKE YOU ON THAT LOOOOOONG JOURNEY THAT WE TOOK & to ALLOW you to SEE that because home ownership WAS IMPORTANT TO US (More for OUR CHILDREN) we felt we GAVE our home AWAY like we lost something that was precious to my family……BUT GOD!!!
Praise report…..We settled on our current home that is a bit over 3-yrs old; paying $100,000 less for the home (Our previous home was built 1976 $350,000 mortgage) our current mortgage is $1000 less than what we were paying before…..LOOK AT GOD!!!!
Anyone whom was affected by the decrease in home values UNDERSTANDS HOW WE FELT but better yet have you ever put your blood, sweat and tears into SOMETHING and you had to give it up family, friends, relationships, etc. YOU GET THE PICTURE!!
Today I want to ENCOURAGE at least ONE to……LET THAT THING GO!!! YUP….LET IT GO!!! Because whatever IT is God has SOMETHING SO MUCH BETTER LINED UP FOR YOU…..YES YOU!!! Stop holding on to DEAD WEIGHT especially when you CAN let it GO……CALLER ARE YOU THERE???
GOD DID THAT…..HE and He ALONE!!!!
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
