I started to hear the proverbial buzz the day before yesterday. Every radio station, online news source, and blog, was talking about it. Those of you who don’t even watch the reality-ratchetness which is Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, have likely even heard about this.
Mimi Faust (ex-girlfriend and the mother of Stevie J’s daughter) and her guy pal Nikko (uh…no clue who he is), apparently decided to record themselves having sex. According to the previews for the new season of Love & Hip Hop, somehow the video footage got “leaked” by some bizarre happenstance and instead of allowing the footage to “hit the streets”, they decided to do a deal with a Pornography Production company to put it out FIRST to “at least get paid from the unfortanate set of events which leaked it”. Sure, the majority of us are not falling for the okeedoke. We know full well, this was the plan to begin with. You also gotta love how all this strategically happened so close to the new season about to premiere on VH1.
I’ve got to tell y’all. I didn’t originally believe it. In seasons past, Mimi is sort of the one that seemed the most mature…the most level-headed. She always stayed “classy” in the most trying of predicaments. Her motivation in how she carried herself always reflected well of a woman of distinction. I’m not calling her flawless. Nor am I speaking of her spiritual condition. I’m speaking from the natural.
Her main motivation in life seemed to be her young daughter. Every decision she made always seemed to revolve around what she thought was best for her child. In previous seasons, she even went as far to tell Stevie J that she didn’t want her daughter around the object of his affections, Joseline Hernandez. Mimi called her every name in the book, including a stripper ho, a prostitute, and the names go on. So again, armed with that along with how she came across…
-I just could not wrap my head around her making the choice to allow herself to be videoed having sex at all. This is not a naive 20-year old. This is a 40+ year old woman, who has been around the block a bit…experienced life and it’s pitfalls. What has he done in a brief relationship with her that would build up her confidence in him so much to make her trust him to that level. Did he ask for her hand in marriage perhaps? My mind is boggled. Sure, everyone makes mistakes, but this…this is simply wreckless behavior.
-I just could not wrap my head around her making the choice to sell it through a pornography company. I’m sure they tried to make LOGICAL sense of it all, but yo…EPIC FAIL!!! I promise y’all, the first thing that came to my mind was, “She sold her soul to the Devil on this one.” Don’t crucify me for that comment…I know full well God is able to redeem anyone at anytime if they truly desire transformation. But I’m just being honest of my very first reaction. How could she ever justify that would be okay? She is a mom. She is an entrepreneur. Somewhere on the planet, she indeed is even a role model. How could the lure of money make her lose her objectivity?
No connection with Jesus Christ, nor the knowledge of His sacrifice and love for us… that’s how!!! No relationship with Him. No fear in His wrath. No belief in His justice. When people know they are part of something divine and have infinite purpose for God’s glory, they tend to walk different…talk different…fall for less of the enemy’s schemes. Although we as Christians may consider doing things that we know are not of God (& often times, do fall into traps like everyone else), the saved are indeed separated from the unsaved by if we are a slave to it. You can not be bound by fame, or stay lingering in a space where you will do anything to attain it. If you are a Slave to Christ, it’s an impossible space to occupy!! As a believer, you can not worship two masters. It just WILL NOT work. 1 Peter 2:9 — But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness, into His marvelous light.
-My hope for Mimi, is of course, that she surrender her life completely to the Lord. That should of course be the hope for all of us walking with God, that everyone’s eyes will be opened to do the same.-
Which takes me to my final point (view video):
2 Corinthians 4:1-6 — Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
